The International Meeting of Teachers and Students of Catalan, TIPECE, was born in 2012 in Hungary with the aim of creating a space for communication between students and teachers of Catalan from the universities that make up the Llull Network. The main objectives are to promote interculturality and multiculturalism, to establish a space for dialogue between Catalan students from different universities around the world, to stimulate student motivation and to get to know different places.
Since its creation, universities from different countries have hosted TIPECE, and teachers from each center have set up a program that combines activities to disseminate the culture of the territory that organizes it with training and learning activities around the Catalan language and culture. The conferences have been held in Budapest, Moscow and St. Petersburg, Sasser, Toulouse, Valencia, Madrid, Turin, Ais de Provence and Berlin.
This year the TIPECE organizes the Masaryk University of Brnoin the Czech Republic, where a degree with a specialization in Catalan language and culture is offered, which this year celebrated a decade of life. This university has also established itself as a center of reference for the certification of knowledge of the Catalan language in the Central European area: in addition to offering all levels of knowledge, other students related to Catalan Studies at the universities in Bratislava and Vienna appear for the exams.
Among the most outstanding activities of this edition is the inaugural conference by Monica Batetwriter and editor: “The need for travel”, and the round table “Catalonia and Central Europe: Images, contacts and relationships” with the participation of Krystyna Schreiber, Monica Batet, Hilary Ruiz i Marek Říha.
In addition, different activities have been scheduled, such as the workshop “The relationship of CLE students with the languages they speak through linguistic biography”, by Laia Benaventthe workshop “Fresh like a rose. Between legend and phraseology: the case of Sant Jordi” by Neus Langa i Noelia Silvestreor a guided tour of the city of Brno.
During TIPECE there will also be a session dedicated to World Poetry Day and students from the University of Brno will read the Czech translations of the poem Bird fire of Blay Bonet to commemorate the centenary of his birth.
The Ramon Llull Institute promotes the teaching of Catalan at universities and higher education centers through the Llull Network, made up of around 130 universities from around the world with more than 4,000 enrolled students.
