The Catalan Film Weekend in Regensburg reaches its 10th anniversary – News Details

The tenth edition of Catalan Cinema Weekend in Regensburg has the motto “Resilience” and will take place in the Andreasstadel hall, which has hosted the festival since 2025, from June 17 to 21.

For this special edition, Catalan students and teachers from the German universities of Mannheim, Heidelberg, Tübingen and the Freie Universität Berlin have collaborated, together with the University of Regensburg, to subtitle this year’s films.

On June 19 there will be a birthday party in the Degginger room – with urban electronic music and TechnoPerreo by Katta Lana & Brauer – and there will also be a performance by the Colla Castellera de Berlin, which will present a traditional castle show for the first time in Regensburg.

The Catalan Cinema Weekend in Regensburg was promoted by the Katalanicum (complementary studies of Catalan language and culture) and by the Forschungszentrum Spanien of the University of Regensburg, and has had the support of the Ramon Llull Institute from the beginning.

During these years, the festival has presented more than 20 films, organized round tables, exhibitions and interviews, and collaborated with professionals in the field of research and art. Each edition has been dedicated to a thematic axis such as Transformation (2018), Freedom (2019), Friendship (2024) or Diversity (2025).

The festival was born in 2017 as part of the Cinescultura film festival and, since then, has aimed to make Catalan culture visible in Regensburg, build cultural bridges and become a platform for exchange, creativity and social reflection in Catalan from Germany to the whole world.
