The line of IRL grants aimed at programming of international festivals, facilities and institutions in the field of visual arts, design and architecturewhich began in 2024, has doubled the number of applications received this year, reaching 36. This is more than twice the requests compared to the previous year of centers and festivals in 20 countries.
Among the beneficiaries of this line of aid are leading institutions internationally such as the festival Ars Electronica (Linz, Austria)ATHENS DIGITAL ARTS FESTIVAL-ADAF (Athens, Greece), The pics of the photographie (Arle, France), the Istanbul Biennial (Turkey), the Kunstenfestivaldesarts (Brussels, Belgium), Mexropolis (Mexico City, Mexico), the Ljubljana Graphic Arts Biennial (Slovenia); Bienalsur (Buenos Aires, Argentina), the Modern Art Center Gulbenkian (Lisbon, Portugal), Signal FestivalLa Kunsthalle Münster, it Lying of Phame (Paris, France) or the Museum of Modern Art of Vienna Mumok (Austria).
In this call, the most scheduled artists have been Claudia Pagès Rabal that over 2025 participates in five major appointments around the world, and Mónica Rikić, With three participations at international festivals.
Pagès Rabal, which has recently been chosen to represent the Catalan culture at the Venice Art Biennial 2026presents the newly created work Five Defence Towers at the Chinnhale Gallery (London, United Kingdom), in the 18th Istanbul Biennial (Turkey) and will be the protagonist of an individual sample at the Museum Modernier Kunst Stifig Ludwig Wien – Mumok (Vienna, Austria). Also, his piece Aljubs and groups – Created to manifest 15 Barcelona Metropolitan – HAVIAGE IN THE Friburg biennial and Index – The Swedish Contemporary Art Foundation. Some of the main samples with Catalan participation scheduled to date are: Joan Fontcuberta and stamp workshop in Jeu de Paume in Paris; Marc Vilanova at The Mattress Factory of Pittsburgh; Rosa Tharrats on the Münster Kunsthalle; Andrés Galeano in Photoszene of Köln; Mónica Rikić in the Twenty-four edition of the Colombia International Image Festival; Clàudia Pagès Rabal, Irene de Andrés and Agnès Essonti in Biennal de Freiburg; Olga Subirós, Tart Rerena and Maria Arnal on the Ljubljana Graphic Arts Biennial; Daniel Steegmann Mangrané in Wiels; Ariadna Guiteras a Cac Brétigny; Marc Vilanova and Maria Arnal a Ars Electronica 2025; Laia Abril in the Triennial of Stockholm; and samples of Cities Connection and the Post-Lake Collective to Mexican MEXTERPOLI FESTIVAL.
The aim of this help from the IRL is to promote and accompany the participation of Catalan culture at the main festivals, biennials, museums and art centers, architecture and design around the world.
