
We select the first projects of the new program of research residences
The Ivanow Ship announces the resolution of the first call of his new residency programa proposal that marks a new stage in the creation support model promoted by the centre. In this first edition five projects have been selected who will begin their residency in September this year: three who will develop one Research Residence in Sala and two that will participate in the Technical/Scenographic Research Residence.
The call has received a total of 309 proposalsof which one 25% come from different parts of the State and one 30% correspond to projects promoted by people with dissidents.
These two new modes are part of the residence program of Nau Ivanowwho understands the artistic creation as a process of research, experimentation and critical thinking. The new model bet to provide time, space and resources so that artists and companies can deepen their processes without the pressure of production or the premiere.
The selection process has combined a preselection phase with one assembly selection in which the Nau Ivanow team, people linked to the residency program and a committee of professionals have participated with the aim of guaranteeing a diverse, plural and representative view of the sector.
Research Residence in Sala
The Research Residence in Sala is directed to live arts projects that are in an early stage of exploration and development. For five weeks, the companies will have workspaces and an accompanying program that favors risk, rehearsal and artistic research.
The selected projects are:
- Andrea El Ameri – Dislocated: a mobile party
A hybrid scene project research phase that explores identity through the body and dance practices understood as a living archive of cultural memories. - Martha Luisa Hernández – I lick
Artistic and bodily exploration based on the concept of language. - Victoria Heredero – Some of us don’t have the option of not putting the body on
Contemporary circus solo, performance and scenic ritual that investigates the relationship between body, dissidence and survival.
The jury in charge of selecting the research residency in the room has been formed by Amada Bokesa, Laura Gómez, Paula Pascual i Caterina Varela With the accompaniment of Kha Villanueva i Barbie Boustier.
Technical / Scenographic Research Residence
The Research Residence Technique / Scenography [da1] [DM2] supports processes centered on the scenographic, lighting, sound or spatial research. The selected companies will be able to develop their projects at the Nau Ivanow theater for 5 weeks, with access to the center’s technical resources and the specialized support of its technical team.
The selected projects are:
- Fernanda Errada – fat
Interdisciplinary stage research that explores fat as an aesthetic-political material and proposes to understand it as a biocorporeal technology. - Karla Kracht – Ghost in the Machine
A piece of live cinema that imagines a world where humanity has disappeared and machines reconstruct its rituals, beliefs and memories from the remains it has left behind.
The jury in charge of selecting the technical research residence has been formed by Iván Cascon, Álvaro Castillo i Joe Serra. With the accompaniment of Kha Villanueva i Barbie Boustier.
Seven types of residences
This 2026 the new program of residences has been made public with 7 modalities who bet for guarantee time and space for research without production pressurefavoring risk, trial and non-linear processes.
The investment that will be allocated to this one new program of residences for this 2026 it will be approximately of €70,000, and some will benefit from it 15 projects. Nau Ivanow’s bet for the dignity and the improvement of conditions in the research processes. The call for 2027 will be published next autumn.
This new frame of residences comes at a significant time for the facility, coinciding with 15 years of residency program , 15 years being part of the Network of Creation Factories of Barcelona i 20 years of management of the Sagrera Foundation.
