
V Conference of the Pau Casals UNESCO Chair: "Music and artificial intelligence"
The day offers a space for reflection on the new musical paradigm and the use of artificial intelligence in artistic creation, production and education. It is organized in three blocks with the participation of artists, researchers and professionals in the sector. The first part will be a round table moderated by Tere Badia, director of Hacte, with the participation of Joan Manuel del Pozo, president of the Catalan Education Council; Jorge Luis Marzo, art historian; and Tatiana Afanador, researcher in art and technology. It continues with the presentation entitled “Representation and understanding of Pau Casals in artificial intelligence systems” by Xavier Serra, professor in the Department of Engineering at Pompeu Fabra University, which analyzes how artificial intelligence can represent knowledge about Pau Casals, as well as its limits and ethical challenges. It closes with a round table moderated by Laia Blasco, professor, researcher and director of the UOC Arts Degree, with Lina Bautista, musician, artist and educator; Lluís Nacenta, director of the Design Museum and head of programs at the Design Hub Barcelona; and Iván Paz, founding member of digital creation collectives. In addition, Lina Bautista will offer a live coding performance. Àngels Fitó, chancellor of the Open University of Catalonia, will also take part; Joan Fuster-Sobrepere, director of the UNESCO Pau Casals Chair; Alfons Martinell, co-director of the same chair; and Jordi Pardo, general director of the Pau Casals Foundation.
