An evening framed within the Pau Casals Barcelona Day and with which we celebrate and commemorate the historical and symbolic link of Pau Casals with the city of Barcelona and the international musical dimension of the maestro.

In the year of the 150th anniversary of the birth of Pau Casals, this concert takes on a particularly symbolic character. The Casals Quartetone of the most international and recognized chamber ensembles in our country, heir to the master’s spiritstars in one of the climaxes of the cycle. Accompanied by the pianist Alexander Melnikov, they interpret two major works of the repertoire: Shostakovich’s third quartet, of dramatic intensity and formal refinement, and Brahms’ Piano Quintet, a monument of romantic chamber music.
