The necessary impulse – Magazine Teatre Barcelona

The Greek dancer and choreographer Christos papadopoulos It has been opening through the most notable of the current contemporary scene, from minimalism, mathematical gesture and the construction of imaginary spaces fully according to the darkness of our time. This may be the first surprise in his return to Barcelona: he does so with a luminous piece and, in a sense, optimistic, around the value of the first steps. An exemplified question with the same dance-it will not be necessary to explain it here-where the first impulse is determining, as is in any of the human activities.

Christos papadopoulos

It is, however, from the music that develops the new choreography, released last May, with the composer Kornilios Selamsis to the rudder of the production from the beginning and the accompaniment of the playwright Alexandros mistriotis. One step behind the other sorts a song, from the beginning. And is in this line that My fiecer ignorant step It becomes a song in life, because it confirms the meaning, belonging and the need of movement.

Indeed, Papadopoulos’s work is a celebration. But above all, creation. With a cast of ten dancers, voices and bodies resonate on stage and transform from the group intervention. They are performers who breathe in unison, compassed, in a synchronous rhythm. They transcend the body of each one to become sound: diverse instruments of a universal melody. A symphony that is built from unconditional love to voluble and present being, at the same time.

And always mirrored in dance, as an art of fleeting. With the paradox of the euphoria that is generated when it occurs the encounter between different. This is the basis of the dance action: precious, irremediably ecstatic, that moves its choreography. It is the way the wonder of feeling alive is transformed into melancholy for its finitude. An easy -to -understand experience that promises to drag the Greek 2025 audience with emotion.

Radical optimism as a realization of the impetus needed by an obscure humanity.
