The “Catalan Classics of Political Thought” collection is presented at the universities of Yale, Princeton and NYU – Actualitat Detail


Three of the most prestigious universities in the world, all located in New York City, will host the presentation of the collection that includes Catalonia’s intellectual legacy. New York University, Princeton University i Yale University will be the stage where the director of the Ramon Llull Institute, Peter Almedaalong with historians Paul Freedman i Josep M. Muñozwill introduce “Catalan Classics of Political Thought”.

The collection collects the thinking and ideas that have defined Catalonia over the centuries, consolidating its intellectual memory and projecting it towards the future and towards the world.

The first number is News from Catalonia | We, the Catalans (1954), of Jaume Vicens Viveswhich explains the historical trajectory of Catalonia and its impact on political culture.

With this initiative, the reading public, both local and foreign, can have a perspective on the political ideas that have shaped Catalonia’s personality, its institutional structure and its collective values.

Each volume of the collection, which will have a version in Catalan and one in English, will include an introductory study and a context study by national and international specialists, who will place the selected works within Western political thought. In the case of News from Catalonia | We, the Catalans these specialists have been the historians Paul Freedman i Josep M. Muñoz. The selection of texts will cover from the Late Middle Ages to 1975, and will be progressively expanded according to the priorities established by a coordination commission and a scientific committee.
