The residence, which takes place in the Museum of Archeology of Catalonia (MAC) in Empúries, aims to connect artists who share Mediterranean musical roots, and will allow the direct contact of Tart Rerena, who work the epic and tragedy Greek, with Manolakis, one of the most recognized authors and Greek actors and performers. It will also allow to present the archeological site of Empúries from an artistic perspective.
On the occasion of this stay a round table has been organized open to the public which will take place at the Alfolí Museum of the Salt of the Escala. The round table will be formed by the music participants in the stay, the Tart Rerena musical duet and the Greek lute Giorgos Manolakis, and moderated by the writer and director of the House of the Classics, Raül Garrigasait. Also participating will be Pau Sabaté, translator of the Iliad, who will act as a Catalan-Grec-Catalan translator.
Tarta relana It’s a duet in a cappella and Electronics atmosphere formed by Marta Torrella and Helena Ros. They incorporate elements of traditional Mediterranean music, current and past, as well as songs of oral tradition. They sing in Catalan, Occitan, Spanish, Mozarabic, Latin, Greek, Judeo -Spanish and Italian.
Giorgos Manolakis He is currently considered one of the greatest virtuoso of his generation for the Crete Llaüt (Laouto) and the Bouzouki. He has worked with renowned musicians and composers (Ross Daly, Hainides, Naseer Shamma, Psarantonis, Sokratis Malamas, Zohar fresco …).
Her first edition From this international artistic residence in Empúries it took place last year and participated in British poet Alice Oswald With the Mallorcan singer, composer and performer Joana Gomilathe Catalan poet Maria Callís and the independent art curator Alexandra Laudo.
