Resolution of the call for artistic research grants Barcelona CREA 2026
Nau Ivanow has resolved the call for the Barcelona Create Scholarships – Creation Factories 2026an initiative of the Network of Creation Factorieswith the support of the Institut de Cultura de Barcelona, aimed at supporting lines of research in the artistic sector. With these grants, the aim is to contribute to maintaining the city’s cultural and scientific impetus by offering resources to develop research processes and artistic innovation.
This call is aimed exclusively at people who identify with experiences of gender dissentof class, ethnic-racial and/or religiousas well as to people who are part of the crip and/or LGTBIQ+ groups.
This year, 3 types of Scholarships have been opened:
MODALITY 1 – Archive of artistic practice
MODALITY 2 – Methodologies and research linked to artistic mediation: in relation to the territory, education, the sector
MODALITY 3 – New perspectives and methodologies in cultural management
Once all the submitted proposals have been evaluated, they have already been selected the projects that will receive support to develop research of the modalities.
The projects selected by the call of the Barcelona Crea – Creation Factories 2026 scholarships are:
Modality 1- Archive of artistic practice
Black theater in Catalonia: archives, genealogies and contested practices
A project by Silvia Albert Sopale
This project proposes the creation of a living archive on the practices linked to black theater in Catalonia, understanding the archive not only as a conservation space, but also as a critical tool for the production of memory and thought within the contemporary performing arts.
Mode 2 – Artistic mediation
Queer Lebanese Palestinian cultural infrastructures in Barcelona
A project by Maria Zreiq and Mohamad Rachid Jalloul
A research on queer Lebanese and Palestinian performative cultural infrastructures in Barcelona: home, diaspora and dissident forms of collective habitability.
Collectivizing healing: An intergenerational reconnection and leather with our popular healing heritage.
A project by Iver Zapata Abellán
This project is an investigation into how living arts in mediation can generate other updated forms of relationship with popular knowledge and vernacular spiritualities for a leather reconnection with the territories.
Mode 3 – Cultural management
In this edition, the category New views and methodologies in cultural management has not been awarded.
