Pau Casals Day concert – Barcelona 2026


The Pau Casals Day is an initiative to commemorate and celebrate the historical and symbolic link of Pau Casals with the city of Barcelona, ​​as well as its musical, social and popular dimension, contributing to its dissemination among new generations. On June 16, 1934, Barcelona City Council named Pau Casals as his adopted son, awarded him the City Medal and named the avenue at the foot of Turó Park after him.

In 2015, the first Pau Casals-Barcelona Day was celebrated. In 2016, the Barcelona City Council institutionalized it and throughout the last editions, it has become a celebration open to everyone.

On Saturday, June 13 at 12:00 p.m., the Pau Casals – Barcelona Day concert will take place in the Eduard Toldrà Auditorium of the Barcelona Municipal Music Conservatory. The event will feature short speeches at the beginning and performances by the VOZES Orchestra, directed by Pablo González, the Camerata del CMMB, directed by David Olmedo, the Xavier Montsalvatge Orchestra, directed by Heriberto Fonseca, and an ensemble of young cellists, directed by maestro Antoni Ros Marbà and coordinated by Peter Thiemann.

The event will be broadcast live on the channel of YouTube of the Pau Casals Foundation.
