A few weeks ago we shared with you the annual report of Coòpolis activities and services the last annuity. We also make available to you from today activity reports collected by each circle of the Athenaeum.
In Coòpolis, in addition to the work aimed at promoting and promoting the cooperative formula as well we promote knowledge and activity with different specificitieswhich we call circles, and which are formed by expert entities in that area that is worked on specifically.

The Integration of ecofeminist perspectives
With regard to the feminist economy, the need has been detected from the Coòpolis circle publicize existing instruments to promote the culture of equality and the feminist economywith the aim of building an economy that puts people and the sustainability of life at the center. In this sense, a very careful and rigorous task has been done search for good practices to spread its existence and its impact.
One of the activities highlighted in the report is thestudy on household debt processes and its effects on women’s autonomy, from an intersectional and decolonial perspective, with very interesting results as a basis for addressing the problem. The circle has also worked hard to develop activities that integrate ecofeminist views into the economyand which promote a broader and critical understanding of the environmental and social impacts of the current economic system.

Political commitment for migrant justice
The anti-racist Migrations and ESS circle continues to work intensively to respond to the needs of one of the groups most vulnerable to the urban economy, that of migrated people.
In this sense, from the Circle they have accompanied and promoted the regularization of migrated people through the creation of cooperatives and recruitment in existing entities.
This year they have too promoted several events which have enabled the visibility of migrant projects, of the culture and knowledge that people who migrate carry on their shoulders. Some of these notable events were:
– Major Migrant Festival in the Ravalwhich served to connect with new audiences and strengthen the community voice.
– The Connects-Fes! culturewhich promote aesthetic innovation for dialogue and social transformation.
– Platform Zero: Filmig, who support migrant and racialized artists through literature and other disciplines.
– Migrant and Divers Fair which, for the first time, has been held in the heart of Barcelona, in the city’s Plaça Catalunya.
In addition, during the year, specific work has been done on entrepreneurship and employment itineraries in the sustainable textile sectorwith projects such as Creadoness-Bud Na Bud, to promote the labor inclusion of migrant women.

Cooperative housing and energy communities
The circle of Ecosocial Transition of housing and energy continues to work intensively for move towards more sustainable and equitable models in the housing and energy sectorscontributing to an ecosocial transition that puts people and the environment at the center.
As for housing, during this year it has continued promoting different cooperative housing projects encouraging the transfer of use format, but also making alternative ownership models visible. The goal is raise awareness towards models that prioritize use over ownership. All this focused on guaranteeing access to decent and affordable housing for all people. This annuity has also continued to work along the lines of the promoting the creation and consolidation of energy communities that bet on the self-production and self-consumption of renewable energy while walking towards energy sovereignty and environmental sustainability.
Both in the field of housing and energy has been detected need to intensify political advocacy to influence the policies promoted at the municipal level and push for the construction of legal frameworks that favor fairer and more sustainable models.

The ecosocial transition in the field of food in Barcelona
In the report of the Ecosocial Transition Circle – Food and agroecology you will find a comprehensive collection of the work carried out by the entities that are part of it in the year 2023-2024.
With the aim of strengthen food sovereignty and the sustainability of the local food systemfrom the circle those initiatives related to the consolidation and expansion of alternative consumptionsuch as consumer cooperatives and community projects. They also stand out actions in a formative and sensitizing keysince the importance of developing is crucial campaigns aimed at citizens to promote healthy and sustainable eating habits, as well as to raise awareness of the environmental and social impact of the current food system.
The report also highlights that, beyond individual responsibility, it is essential that public policies favor the transition towards a more sustainable food systemincluding measures such as the promotion of the public purchase of organic and local food, and support for local initiatives that work in this direction. These policies must also be actively participated in by citizens.
