The title Barcelona: the Archive that we are expresses the indissoluble bond between the city, the Municipal Archive and the people who, collectively, build the memory of Barcelona. Throughout our lives, we generate documents – when we are born, marry, register or interact with the administration – which end up being part of the archives. The exhibition aims to make everyone feel like a protagonist, demonstrating that the Archive is not a distant entity, but a living, shared and close space that defines us. The route of the exhibition is structured in four large conceptual areas that offer a complete and diverse vision of the city’s history through its documents.
