Display "Bravo"

In all the work done so far, Felipe Romero has been interested in territories that have been or are the scene of tension, conflict and visual reflection. In the Bravo project, it has focused on a river with more than three thousand kilometers in length, of which about 1,100 work as a border between US and Mexico. In his photographs, Romero puts the viewer in a certain section of the Mexican area, in which the river and the flows of people arriving to cross it condition everything, form the identity of their people and their lifestyles. There are people from Colombia, Honduras, El Salvador or Guatemala for whom the crossing is the last stage of a long, painful journey. Bravo approaches this reality through a series of images of architectures, people and landscapes. Almost naked interiors, walls and surfaces where the textures, colors and portraits of individuals with whom the artist has been in his travels in the area stand out. In short: a poignant visual, sober and poetic rehearsal, around the idea of waiting and border identity.
