Chronicle of the Inter -Territorial Meeting XAC – Olatukoop – Ateneo


On March 20 and 21, the Ateneu Cooperativa del Baix Llobregat participated, as a member of the Cooperative Athenian Network (XAC), in the Inter -Territorial Meeting of Social and Solidarity Economy celebrated Lizarra (Basque Country). The event, co -organized with Olukoopthe Basque Solidarity Economy Network, gathered representatives from both territories for strengthen bonds, share experiences and design common future strategies.

An encounter in key transformative cooperation

The space chosen for the meeting, Deierriko Ostata, for two days became a point of connection between different realities, but with a shared look: to build an economy rooted in the territory, community and just. The morning of the first day began with a joint presentation on the current state of cooperativism in Catalonia and the Basque Country, where the importance of weaving stable collaboration networks between projects, administrations and ESS agents was put on the table.

Among the main lines of debate was the need for:

  • Develop specific legal frameworks To facilitate intercooperation and avoid regulatory obstacles.
  • Design Methodologies to anticipate cooperative generational reliefensuring the continuity of the projects.

Rethink the work and future of care

In the afternoon, the debate focused on how the social economy can respond to labor precariousness and new uncertainties. It was reflected on the need to create fairer, sustainable and focused labor models in the care of people, as well as to reconfigure the social imaginary about work from a transformative perspective.

Visits to projects with territorial impact

The second day was dedicated to visiting projects referring to Navarrese territory, all of them with a strong incidence in the local economy and the generation of stable employment. We highlight:

  • Commonwealth Andia: Shared management of municipal services to combat rural depopulation.
  • Zunbeltz Agricultural Test: Training and support for agricultural generational relief, betting on food sovereignty.
  • Baku-barrikupel: Circular economy based on the reuse of materials and the creation of sustainable products.

These examples show as Social innovation and cooperativism can go hand in hand To face the great challenges of the present with collective, rooted and sustainable responses.

A shared path, an ESS stronger

This meeting has been much more than an exchange space: it has been a joint commitment to building bridges, sharing learning and strengthening alliances between territories.
