Barcelona will host the first International Forum of Translators of Catalan Literature into other languages ​​in 2026 – Actualitat Detail


The Ramon Llull Institute promotes the first International Forum of Translators of Catalan Literaturea far-reaching project of high strategic value for the country’s cultural and linguistic policy. Thanks to the work of the translators, authors such as Irene Solà, Montserrat Roig or Víctor Català coexist in the international literary universe with Toni Morrison, Natalia Ginzburg or Emily Brontë.

The initiative places translators at the center of the cultural and literary debate, highlighting their fundamental role in the dissemination of Catalan culture. Translators act as a qualified prescribersable to identify relevant works, contextualize them and facilitate their reception in other languages. His work not only adapts texts, but also creates cultural bridges, establishes partnerships between international publishers and contributes to the projection of Catalan authors and thinkers in various markets.

The event, which will take place on 23 to 26 November 2026will convert for the first time Barcelona at the meeting point for translators of Catalan literature from all over the world.

For four days, the forum will gather 150 professionals coming from different countries and will combine plenary sessions, practical workshops, sectoral debates, meetings with authors and editors, and cultural activities open to the public with the aim of updating knowledge about literary trends, emerging technologies and good practices, encouraging the exchange of experiences and strengthening the international network of translators of Catalan literature.

The Forum wants to be a catalyst for new translations, projects and alliances of the literary and publishing system Catalan with international.

This event organized by the IRL will take place with the collaboration of theInstitute of Catalan Studies (IEC) and the Center for Contemporary Culture of Barcelona (CCCB) where the International Forum of Translators of Catalan Literature will take place.
