What is behind our mask? Are we what we hide? What makes us afraid of ourselves? Ren wonders this every day as he works in his small office and fights his relentless insomnia, though sometimes another person, his Alter, answers. What must this being be like? can we be friends Is he a much more familiar face than we thought? Or maybe it’s someone else’s face? Alter is a piece of visual theatre, dance, body puppetry and mask where different visual poems are interwoven, reflecting on the complexity of human identity and the various ways in which we present ourselves to the world, questioning the hidden and stigma, acceptance and diversity. Those hidden faces of our being that live in the shadows are looking for a moment of clarity to talk about everything we hide from others, and perhaps, from ourselves.
