Nihilistic Hamlet — Denmarkby Lluïsa Cunillé
Lluïsa Cunillé, our most fit playwright, places Hamlet in a humble apartment in Copenhagen, among silences, domestic and lonely ghosts that seem painted by Hopper. But Albert Arribas doesn’t stay in the Pinterian fog: he opens the windows, accelerates the device and turns rotten Denmark into a party of alienation that blows up theatrical conventions. The interpretations of Imma Colomer and Pere Arquillué are traca and pañuelo.
Sala Beckett – from Wednesday to Sunday – until June 14 – €22
An awkward question — Against Antigone, by Andrea Jiménez and Victoria Szpunberg
Who can be Antigone today? Andrea Jiménez returns to the Greek myth to turn it into a collective conversation about democracy, dissent and compromise. With Victoria Szpunberg in the dramaturgy, the piece does not seek to venerate the classic but to discuss it head on. An Antigone against the moral comfort of our time.
Free Theater – from Wednesday to Sunday – until June 21 – €32
A white wound — Permafrost, by Eva Baltasar and Victoria Szpunberg
Eva Baltasar’s famous novel comes to the scene with all its icy harshness: suicide, black humor and a protagonist who looks at the world behind a layer of emotional cold. Victoria Szpunberg (de nuevo) and Albert Pijuan transfer this literary voice to an almost clinical space, while Maria Rodríguez Soto gives it body, temperature and a contagious emotional tremor.
Espai Texas – from Wednesday to Sunday – until June 28 – €27.50
A mystical party — heartache, by Company Solitària and Victoria Szpunberg (again)
Santa Teresa, a bar, a flood and three lost souls seeking salvation while the world collapses. heartache it is a wild comedy about the pain of the soul, but also a celebration of theatrical play. You will find mystical solemnity, hooliganism and an energy that breaks the fourth wall. Júlia Barceló, Pol López and Pau Vinyals give it their all in a piece that mixes fun and transcendence.
La Villarroel – from Thursday to Sunday – until May 27 – €21.75
A drift — Happiness doesn’t matter, by Tomàs Aragay
The experimental theater of the veterans Societat Doctor Alonso is always worth the effort, and now they are bringing to La Brossa a performance based on the film Un día cualquiera. On stage, the director, the protagonist and the sound engineer review the film live, while the voice in off opens cracks on reality, appearance and the possibility of imagining other worlds.
