Conference ‘The world of publishing yesterday and today’ / Activities / Visit us / Home

Next Thursday, May 14, 2026, from 9:30 a.m. to 2:30 p.m., the conference “The publishing world of yesterday and today” will take place in the Sala de la Caritat of the Library of Catalonia. The event takes place as part of the exhibition “Rafael Figueró, the great printer of Baroque Catalonia”which can be visited at the Library of Catalonia until June 27.

Coinciding with the three hundredth anniversary of Rafael Figueró’s death, the conference is inspired by the legacy of this printer, one of the most relevant in modern Catalonia, to explain the changes and evolution of the publishing world in our country from the 17th century to the present day.

The program includes three round tables and the participation of more than a dozen specialists in the field. The day will end with a guided visit to the exhibition “Rafael Figueró, the great printer of Catalonia of the Baroque”, by the curator, Xevi Camprubí.

Program

9:30 a.m.: Institutional welcome and opening of the event by the director of the Library of Catalonia, Eugenia Serra.

9:45-10:45 a.m.: Round table “The printing press in the 17th-18th centuries”, with the speakers:

14:00-14:30: Guided tour by the curator, Xevi Camprubíat the exhibition “Rafael Figueró, the great printer of Baroque Catalonia”.
