Piano concert ‘Roots’, by Santiago Oviedo / Activities / Visit us / Home

Next Friday, January 30, 2026, at 8:30 p.m., the Santiago Oviedo piano concert will take place in the Sala de Llevant of the Biblioteca de Catalunya.
With the title rootsthe pianist Santiago Oviedo invites us on a sound journey that unites two great musical heritages, the unique sonority of Catalonia and the cultural wealth of Mexico.
This proposal is born from his own life experience, and weaves a bridge between his native Mexico and Catalonia, the land that has welcomed him. A concert to discover how two different cultural traditions can converge in the same feeling through the piano.
Santiago Oviedo began his piano studies at the age of seven under the tutelage of Svetlana Logounova and, later, pianist Manuel González. He graduated in Piano from the National Conservatory of Music of Mexico, was part of the Carlos Chávez School Orchestra and entered the piano chair taught by Dr. Farizat Tchiviroba. He has received master classes from numerous outstanding pianists and has been awarded in several international competitions.
He completed his master’s studies in classical and contemporary music interpretation at the Fundació Conservatori Liceu, in Barcelona, under the tutelage of Alex Alguacil, with whom he continues his studies in the Music Training program of this institution.
Admission is free with limited capacity.
