Open the call for two literary residences in Art OMI – Detail current


Art Omi, located near Ghent, in the state of New York, has been working as a residence since 1992, and has five different residence programs, one for discipline: writing, music, dance, art and architecture.

During their stay, a dozen artists coexist and participate in community activities, which promotes the spirit of exchange that characterizes OMI art. The program features a weekly visit itinerary with the New York publishing community, where contact with publishers, agents and literary scouts is established.

Two places are offered, in two separate periods: from September 18 to October 16, and from October 23 to November 13, 2025.

This call occurs in the frame of the new grant line In kind and non -competitive concurrence to carry out international residences in the centers with which the Institut Ramon Llull has a collaboration agreement. Thanks to the agreements, artists and authors of the Catalan artistic and cultural field, they will be able to participate in strategic residences in all disciplines. The expenses covered by the in -kind subsidy are the accommodation, the maintenance and the organization of the residence.   • Description of the project that will be carried out during the stay, in English, of between 3 and 5 pages.

A jury consisting of representatives of Omi art will make the selection of residents in accordance with the following criteria:

  • That the candidates have at least one original literary work published in Catalan of exclusive authorship, in some of the following genres: narrative, poetry, theater, non-fiction and children’s and youth literature.

  • The relationship of the project with the lines of action of the host institution. The relationship with the priority creation lines for the residence center, linguistic fluidity and capacity for integration with the other residents, willingness to exchange and interaction with the other residents and guests, as well as the disposition to participate in return activities, is valued.

  • The relevance, interest and quality of the proposed project. Aspects such as the solidity and viability of the project, the topics covered and the quality of the writing are evaluated.
