A space to define the future of social and solidarity economics – Ateneu

The Social and Solidarity Economy (ESS) has established itself as a viable alternative to the dominant economic model, but it still has many challenges in front to become a truly transformative and structural option. With the aim of generating spaces for collective reflection and promoting future strategies, the Solidarity Economy Network (XES) organizes the Fesc’25 Foruma day to be held on April 4, 2025 at the Bostik of Barcelona.

This meeting is not only a continuation of the Solidarity Economy Fair of Catalonia (FESC), but also articulates as a deeper debate space, in which you want to put on the table the structural challenges of the ESS and to draw joint lines of work between cooperatives, entities and social movements.

Why is this forum important?

The ESS has shown its ability to withstand economic crises and generate stable employment, but at the same time it faces difficulty expanding beyond a specific sector of the population and being fully integrated into public policies and the general productive fabric. Lack of access to funding, the need for most determined ESS support policies and the need to strengthen intercooperation are some of the central topics that will be discussed at the Fesc’25 forum.

Another key axis of the day will be the need to grow the impact of the ESS in strategic sectors such as housing, energy or technology, so that co -operatives and initiatives of the solidarity economy are a structural alternative to the capitalist market and not just an option of resistance.

Who will participate?

The Fesc’25 Forum will have the participation of prominent entities and initiatives within the ESS sector as Coop57, We are mobilityLa XES, Coopcamp and the Plantas well as other organizations linked to the promotion of co -operatives and ethical finances.

From the Ateneu Cooperativa del Baix Llobregat, this meeting is seen as an opportunity to strengthen alliances and value the role of co -operatives and ESS initiatives in the region.
