As every year we heat engines before the 32nd edition of the Alternativa, one of the most special film festivals in Barcelona, ​​with two screenings from our favorite films of the last edition.

Stones are the most fundamental elements and at the same time the most ignored in our world. The filmmaker Sopie benoot He enters this story after having expelled a renal calculation. How will we get from that stone to a Verde Cape Volcano or Palestinian quarries, or will we stumble upon an English vacation geologist? This game proposed by the director is the storyline of an essay that raises urgent ecological issues and at the same time can be read as a philosophical fable. BENOOT It invites us with his film to examine the bond between the human body and the planet through the contrast between the everyday and the great questions about life in the cosmos.

Sopie benoot (Bruixes, 1985) Lives and works in Brussels. She did a master’s degree in audiovisual arts at the Luca School of Arts in Brussels, where she is now a teacher. His films are mosaics of carefully coupled stories to reveal hidden connections. Borders (2007), Blue Meridian (2010, projected to the alternative) and Desert Haze (2014) were screened at Visions du Réel, the Camden International Festival, the Turin Festival and the Buenos Aires Festival of Independent Film – Bafici. By 2020, along with Liesbeth de Ceulaer and Isabelle Tollenere co -directed Victorywhich premiered in the Berlinale and won the Caligari Award before passing the 2020 Alternative.
