After the death of their father, originally from Jaén, their future becomes complicated when they receive an eviction letter: the building they live in has been sold and they are kicked out of the flat. Immigration, precariousness and the pain of loss are repeated in different generations.

After winning the Goya for best new director with The daughter of a thiefBelén Funes consolidates his own look with The Turtles Funes’ second feature film premiered internationally at the Toronto Film Festival and won an award at the Malaga Film Festival. The director expands her view on migration, uprooting and precariousness, focusing on mother and daughter, without turning the story into a moralistic or sentimental discourse.
