“Unpublished Carme Garcia, the spaces revealed”
GUIDED ROUTE TO THE STREET CIRCUIT:
UNPUBLISHED CARME GARCIA, THE SPACES REVEALED
Thursday 14 and 21 May at 6 pm
Walking route through the Gothic Quarter of Barcelona, where the pioneering photographer Carme Garcia lived and developed her hobby. This itinerary will bring us closer to the Barcelona of the Franco regime, and will allow us to delve deeper into the work of a renovating author, who revealed life between public and domestic space, where women had been rendered invisible.
Closely linked to the Agrupació Fotogràfica de Catalunya, and especially to its Women’s Group, the donation of a large part of her work to the organization promotes the dissemination of this legacy as a benchmark of modernity. Thus, on the occasion of the Enfocats Festival, a selection of his most innovative photographs will be located in different emblematic places in the Gothic Quarter. Establishing as a starting point the exhibition located at the Pati Llimona Civic Centre, the itinerary will allow you to go through these spaces to end at the AFC headquarters, a focal point of Catalan photography since 1923.
