Next Tuesday, December 2, 2025, at 8:30 p.m., a tribute concert to Paquita Madriguera (1900 – 1965) and Conxita Badia (1897 – 1975) will take place in the Sala de Llevant of the Library of Catalonia by soprano Maria Teresa Garrigosa and guitarist Raúl Sandín.
The program includes works by the Iguala pianist Paquita Madriguera that have never been performed in public and that have been recovered following the research work of the two musicians.
Garrigosa and Sandín will also interpret works by Conxita Badia, Enric Granados, Carlos Gustavino, Alberto Ginestera and Jayme Ovalle.
The concert is part of the celebration of the Year of Conxita Badia this 2025, when it will also be 125 years since the birth of Paquita Madriguera and 60 years since her death. It aims to delve into the rich and varied musical environment that accompanies these two great Catalan musical figures who, despite the complicated historical moment they had to live through, did not stop to give continuity to their creative vocation.
Paquita Madriguera is one of the most important pianists of the first half of the 20th century, a child prodigy and student and friend of Enric Granados. She excelled as a concert performer, but also demonstrated her great talent as a composer.
Conxita Badia is considered one of the most influential sopranos of the 20th century. He stood out both in the classical and popular music repertoire and also excelled as a pianist.
Free entry with limited capacity.
