Theatre, dance and music with a critical eye
From February 21 to March 14, 2026, the Cítric festival once again places culture as a space for thought and meeting. In an increasingly competitive and individualistic context, this edition puts the focus on what moves us when we recognize ourselves as a “we”: friendships, celebrations, tables and also resistance. The citrusafter more than a decade of career, continues to bet on proposals that disturb, shake and invite reflection.
Contemporary scene with social commitment
The programming of the twelfth edition of the Cítric combines documentary theatre, contemporary dance and live music, with outstanding names from the current scene and projects that dialogue with memory and the present.
The cycle starts on February 21 with Two lives and one bodya biographical and documentary scenic creation conceived and directed by Francisca Mujica. The show addresses migratory mourning through the first-person accounts of eleven Latin American women who share stories, archives and bodies to transform the individual experience into a collective narrative. The feature includes a subsequent panel discussion on migrant experiences, reinforcing Cítric’s commitment to debate and active listening.
Contemporary dance will take center stage on March 6 with ORGYof the Miquel Barcelona Company. A piece that explores the pleasure of the body in motion and questions the hypersexualized and normative gaze of our time. Based on choreographic languages such as voguingthe waackingthe twerk or the dancehall -styles born in counterculture contexts-, the proposal claims the body as a space of freedom, community and resistance.
The last weekend, March 14, will bet on a more musical and combative evening. the company The Solidarity presents Durruti, we love youora musical show with music by Guillem Caballero and texts of Tuli Marquez which revisits the figure of Buenaventura Durrutireferent of the labor struggle of the 20th century.
The assembly recovers the revolutionary myth linked to Barcelona and also highlights the figure of the anarchist and feminist movement Mimi Morin.
Culture that leaves a mark
Over the course of twelve editions, El Cítric has established itself as one of the central stakes of the Ateneu Popular 9 Barris: a program that understands culture not as a consumer product, but as a tool to generate critical thinking and build alternatives to the dominant narratives.
