The Vives Arts envy the neighborhood: 24th Poblenou Scene Festival
From 16 to 19 October, the Poblenou Scene Festival It is reaffirmed one more year, and 24 editions are already going, as one of the most committed events in the city. Directed by Ada Vilaróthe festival refers to the streets, squares and cultural spaces of the Poblenou district with Vives Arts, contemporary creation and social commitment, a festival faithful to its feminist, community and open to new looks.
According to its artistic director, Ada Vilaró, the festival is still “a space for meeting, thought and collective celebration”, with a clear commitment to proximity and risk, and to give voice to artists who dare to look at the world from new, brave and emotional places.
A festival that transforms the neighborhood
For four days, the performing arts will colonize Poblenou with 23 proposals from 20 local, state and Balearic companies, which can be seen in both rooms and public space. In total, 12 pieces of room and 11 street will make up an eclectic program that includes dance, theater, circus, clown, concerts, performances and dialogue spaces.
Among the highlights, the festival will open with Undofrom the Cia. Miquel Barcelonaa dance piece on the transformation and hope that appeals to creativity as a tool to inhabit the present. Will also come the long -awaited premiere of We, the unnameda co -production of Mos maiorum with dramaturgy of Joan Yagoinspired by the figure of anarchist leader Joan Garcia Oliver.
The festival also incorporates leisure and irreverent looks like Songs that end in Fade Out,,,,,, Wisconsin’s coplawhich revisits the music of the transition with humor, feminist perspective and queer spirit; or Bundlefrom the clown Pau Palausa poetic show and without words about the liberating power of the game.
Other prominent proposals are Between oxen and cows,,,,,, The Côte Follean acrobatic piece on the memory and the passage of time that will have the participation of women in the neighborhood, and Meloncoliafrom the creator Joan Estraderwhich combines absurd, humor and visual poetry.
Bet on the Balearic talent
One of the novelties of this year is the bet on the creationwith four proposals by artists from the Islands. Stand out Peajes,,,,,, Clear ingoldan intimate and theatrical concert that mixes music and humor; Zooller,,,,,, Sa sidewalk from tubea satire on the transformation of the rural world; and Conhortfrom the company Iocandi hotela circular stage installation of contemporary circus that reflects on fragility and collective consolation.
Four lines of creation support
The festival consolidates its four lines of action – multidisciplinary program, support for creation, vocational training and community projects – and extend its impetus to new talents with various calls.
The new initiative The stagescreated with The bonne, the old theater and the Brossa Foundationsupports projects led by creative women. The selected piece this year is BunchfromEmma Bassasan exploration on the violence invisible in motherhood.
Also noteworthy is the tenth edition ofIn my neighborhood they do performancesthat this 2025 presents The bugs,,,,,, Maria the faulta community project that recovers the memory of women workers of the Godó factory, brothers and cia. Within the call Embryosdedicated to gestation projects, four pieces have been selected: Lady Bloom (The Quebrá), Chirinxin (The tight), The weathering house (PSIRC) and Out of Line (Kernel Dance Theater).
According to Vilaró, Les Arts Vives “remind us that we are body, that we are a community and that we have the power to imagine better worlds.” This idea synthesizes the spirit of a festival that, once again, turns Poblenou into a space where risk and beauty coexist on the street, in the square and life.
