The event, which is part of the Rodoreda project, aims to place the author in the context of European and late modernism, to explore the connections between his work and that of other European writers, mainly Italian, and critically review his reception and translations.
The congress takes place from October 9 to 11, 2025 at the University headquarters and will have an opening conference in Catalan by Professor Barbara łuczak, entitled Mercè Rodoreda Universaleof which the Italian translation will be published in collaboration with Quaderni Cat.
The Scientific and Organizing Committee is composed of Pietro Catali, Anna Fernández-Clot, Martí Freixas, Giuseppe Marrani, Marta Marfany, Cèlia Nadal Pasqual (director of the CAT Center), Simone Pisano, Elena Stefanelli and Irene Zurrón.
For three days, the Colloquium will offer eight working sessions with presentations dedicated to aspects such as the presence of dantecos The Diamond SquareRodoreda’s relationship with authors such as Natalia Ginzburg or Alba de Céspedes, his readings by Lewis Carroll, and the poetic and symbolic dimension of his narrative. Participants include researchers and researchers such as Gabriela Gavagnin, Francesca Rubini, Igiaba Scego, Emanuele Zinato, Amaranta Sbardella, Laura Fortini, Marianna Morruci and Morena Marsilio, among many others.
