‘The storm’, between dreams and reality

Years later, by 2021, returning to redefining in a more crude and poignant way the famous Prince of Denmark, this time interpreted by a very young and prodigious William Balart –Act this year we have been able to see with the company of Broggi, La Perla 29, doing All birds. Now, four years later-and after many years around it-Broggi presents The stormthe last play written alone by Shakespeare, which has been considered the author’s most literary play. We can see it from June 25 to July 26 at the Library Theater within the framework of the Grec Festival, and will be starred by Lluís Soler, Xavier Boada, Babou Cham, Clara de Ramon, Eduard Paredes, Xavier Ripoll, Oriol Ruiz Coll, Jacob Torres and Ramon Vilaactors who will give life to the characters of Prosper, Ariel, Miranda, Calibà, Sebastià, Antoni and so many others.

The storm It premiered for the first time on November 1, 1611 at the Whitehall Palace in London, and immediately caused feelings between the public and the critic for the large number of fantastic elements introduced, an excellent exercise that rides all the time between reality and fiction. Some, in fact, considered it “a poetic fantasy”, what the English call romancebecause each of the scenes contains some fantasy brush stroke that brings us closer to a delicious dreamlike world without neglecting betrayal and revenge, recurring themes in Shakespeare.
The play tells the story of Prosperous, formerly Duke of Milan, an old man who devours books of magic and who is able to control and master fantastic beings and natural elements such as the weather and the sea. When his brother Antoni goes banished from the Italian peninsula, he must survive as he can on an uninhabited island. With him coexist Miranda, his daughter; Caliban, son of a witch; Ariel, the spirit of the air and a group of nymphs. Thanks to his good relationship with Ariel, Prosper will be able to explode a great storm that will make the ship where he travels Antoni. The drama is well served.
