The Paris Book Festivalone of the most important literary events in France, in collaboration with the Centro de Cultura Contemporánea de Barcelona (CCCB), will tribute to Mercè Rodoreda on April 17 in its main stage, the Grand Palais. This recognition coincides with the publication in French of his novels: Le Jardin sur la mer (Garden by the sea) and Rue des Camélias (Carrer de les Camèlies), translated by Edmond Raillard and published by Editions Zulma.
The event will consist of a round table discussion with the participation of the Lebanese playwright Wajdi Mouawadthe French writer, musician and opera director Leonor de Récondo and the French actress Sophie Rodrigueswho will read fragments of Rodoreda’s work. The director of the Ramon Llull Institute, Anna Guitartwill moderate the session.
The Festival du Livre de Paris is a literary event of international relevance dedicated to literature, which annually brings together authors, publishers, booksellers and readers with the objective of promoting reading and facilitating direct contact between authors and the public, through debates, presentations, signings and readings. Created in 1981 as Salon du Livre de Paris, it is organized by National Publishing Syndicate and last year it had the search participation of 1,200 authors from several countries and 114,000 visitors.
