The international tour of this year of theSymphony Orchestra of Barcelona and National of Catalonia (OBC) arrives this Friday, July 18 in Amsterdam with a concert in the Concertgebouwone of the main European concert halls. Directed by their holder Ludovic Morlotthe training will present a repertoire dedicated mainly to Maurice Ravelof whom deception celebrates the 150th anniversary of his birth, and with a luxury soloist: the French violinist Renaud Capuçon.
The concert also includes the premiere in the Netherlands of the Ephemeral symphony by José Río-Parleja, a Barcelona composer born in 1973. This piece premiered last December in the Auditorium commissioned by the facility as a guest composer of the 24-25 season, which closes precisely with this concert.
In the concert repertoire there are three pieces by Ravel in chamber format: his Sonata for violin n. 2 made by Yan Maresz, and the popular Tziganea demonic composition in which the violin unfolds circus maneuvers by invoking the Hungarian tradition, as it is not in vain the result of an order by the violinist Jelly d’Aranyi, who had collaborated with Bartók.
The concert will culminate in the orchestral version of the Paintings of an exhibition of Mussorgsky made by Ravel. A walk in the hands of the sound imagination, which runs through landscapes never completely fictional, represented in the bordering field between the wakefulness and the dream, in which mental activity and the dreamlike world are confused.
The Amsterdam Concertgebouw, opened in 1888, is an emblematic building in the city known for its acoustic excellence and the prestige of the artists who are invited to play. This is the third time that the OBC will visit this room, where it debuted in the summer of 2002 during the farewell tour of the then titular director Lawrence Foster. He returned 7 years ago, in 2018, in the summer program of the room with the pianist Haanes Minnaar and under the baton of Jan Willem de Vriend.
The OBC Internationalization Program will end this year with a tour at Germany In November under the direction of Morlot, which will include the debut of the training in the Liederhalle (Beethovensaal) of Stuttgart and the Tonhalle of Düsseldorf with the violinist Bomsorias well as the return for the second consecutive year to theHamburg’s ElBphilarmonie With the Catalan soprano Núria Rial.
