The Circus of Horroros says goodbye to ‘Requiem’, the farewell of Suso Silva
Barcelona will be the scene of the last feature of Requiem, final symphonythe show with which the Circus of the horror end a stage and pay homage to its creator, Suso Silva. Until March 1, the La Maquinista mall houses this farewell show full of nostalgia, terror and humor, with which Silva says goodbye to the stage after 50 years of career.
A journey through the history of the circus of horror
Since its inception in 2006, the circus of horror revolutionized the circus world with its combination of contemporary theater, cabaret and circus. Suso Silva’s phrase, “The circus has died, let’s get out of it.”became the statement of intent of a show that has attracted millions of viewers.
With BoilmSilva makes his “stage suicide”, as he defines it, leaving a legacy of iconic characters: Nosferatu, the king of asylum, Lucifer and the unforgettable Suso Clown. “It’s my last parody, my last performance … and I’m full inside and naked on the outside,” says the artist.
The show is as a retrospective of its six montage, recovering the best numbers and the most remembered characters. The show is conceived as a medley of its great hits, evoking the essence of each of its productions: from the comic terror of the Circus of the horrorpassing through the savage of the Cabaret Malditoto the madness of Asylum.
The future of the circus of horror
The show also marks the transfer of the testimony to the next generation. Sara Silvadaughter of the director, will be the new teacher of ceremonies. In a final scene full of emotion, she collects Suso Clown’s wardrobe, symbolizing the continuity of the legacy. “It’s the time of women, a new voice representing the circus culture of 2024,” says Silva.
Although Silva retires from the stage, he will not move away completely. He will continue to write and direct new shows. “I will continue to create, but life no longer allows me to do everything. I am no longer 20 years old, “she confesses. “I have projects on television, cinema and two shows on the way. I won’t be still. ” The end of an era approaches, but the essence of the circus of horror will continue to be alive. And, as in the best shows, the show must continue.
