The “Catalan Classics of Political Thought” collection is presented at the universities of Yale, Princeton and NYU – Actualitat


Three of the world’s most prestigious universities, all three located in the New York area, will host the presentation of the collection that brings together Catalonia’s intellectual legacy. New York University, Princeton University and Yale University will be the stage where the director of the Ramon Llull Institute, Peter Almedatogether with historians Paul Freedman and Josep M. Muñozwill present “Catalan Classics of Political Thought”.

The collection brings together the thought and ideas that have defined Catalonia throughout the centuries, consolidating its intellectual memory and projecting it towards the future and towards the world.

The first volume is News from Catalonia | We, the Catalans (1954), by Jaume Vicens Viveswhich explains the historical trajectory of Catalonia and its impact on political culture.

The presentations at the three New York universities will be as follows:

This initiative offers readers, both local and international, insight into the political ideas that have shaped Catalonia’s identity, institutional structure and collective values.

Each volume of the collection, which will have Catalan and English versions, will include an introductory study and a contextual study by national and international specialists, who will situate the selected works within Western political thought. In the case of News from Catalonia | We, the Catalans these are historians Paul Freedman and Josep M. Muñoz. The selection of texts will span from the Late Middle Ages to 1975, and will be progressively expanded according to priorities established by a coordinating commission and a scientific committee.
