
The Brossa resolves the calls of the Barcelona Crea -Fábrical Creation Scholarships – Joan Brossa Foundation
Eduard Olesti, Luca Calderó and the collective formed by Sasha Binia Bénarie, Emma Ribera Noguera and Carmela Sesé have won the first call that the Free Arts Center of the Joan Brossa Foundation has taken with collaboration from the City Council of Barcelona under the umbrella of the Barcelona Scholarships Crea.
What are the Barcelona Scholarships Create – Creation Factories?
Them Scholarships Barcelona Create – Creation factories They are an initiative of the network of creation factories, with the support of the Institute of Culture, to support the processes before the production that accompany the creation of artistic proposals: conceptualization, gestation, research, experimentation, documentation and essay. These grants want to contribute to maintaining the cultural impetus of the city, offering resources to develop research and artistic innovation processes in the city.
From the Joan Brossa Foundation we have called, together with the Institute of Culture, 3 Scholarships Barcelona Create – Creation factories in three different modalities:
Carme Montoriol dramaturgical writing modality
Modality Lecture Performative
Heritage Activation Modality
This initiative aims to promote the research work – theoretical and practical – of artists who come from performing, visual and textual arts and at the same time are linked to the city of Barcelona.
What does this call offers?
The aim is to offer time, space, economic, material and accompaniment resources (of the team and the artistic management / coordination) to deepen the processes and the subjects of work, in a context that allows maturation, l ‘Evolution and maximum expression of the proposals presented.
Work space, financial contribution, accompaniment and artistic monitoring is offered during the work process and the opportunity to generate appropriate contexts to share the research and creation processes and open them to external looks.
The artistic monitoring will be given by the members of the jury: Roger Bernat, Alexandra Laudo and Pedro G. Romero.
What projects have won the call?
A total of 85 projects were distributed between the three defined categories and the jury (composed by Roger Bernat, Alexandra Laudo, Pedro G. Romero and the artistic direction of the Center for Free Arts -Georgina Oliva and Maria Canelles-) Ha) Chosen three projects that, as a whole, put into play elements, the interrelation of which highlights the process of development and research that seeks the purpose of the research and creation scholarship.
The winning projects have been:
Category Dramaturgical writing: Shrek, kebabs and of Eduard Olesti
The jury evaluated the poetic and versatile dimension with which the artist still the proposal.
Category Performative Conference: We needed ulcers of Luca Calderó
The jury evaluated a formal and methodological justification for the performative conference format, as well as the proposal for political and poetic writing where the word, images and body were interrelated.
Category Heritage activation: A peripheral junk of Sasha Binia Bénarie, Emma Ribera Noguera and Carmela Sesé.
The jury evaluated the resignification of the periphery and the unusual connection of Joan Brossa with the flamenco.
The research projects will be carried out between January and June 2025 and we already want to see how they evolve!
