The BPEB assumes the management of the Balmes Library – Episcopal Public Library of Barcelona

Since last October 2024, the Balmes Library has been part of the structure of the Episcopal Public Library of the Barcelona Conciliar Seminary (BPEB), which is being managed. Since April 2024, in collaboration with the CSUC, we have been working on the Migration of the Balmes Library’s catalog in the BPEB catalog, aspect that was completed – as we said – the last month of ‘October. With the integration of both catalogs already completed, from now on it will work to achieve the same access, circulation and consultation policies.

This action strengthens inter -institutional cooperation in the field of bibliographic heritage, as the BPEB had already cataloged and made available in its catalog the bibliographic heritage of the Diocesan Archive and the Barcelona Chapter Archive.

This integration complies with the vision of optimizing the available resources, taking advantage of the structures already consolidated, cooperating with the available tools, eliminating dispersion and giving value and visibility to the bibliographic heritage of the archdiocese. And it is also another step in achieving the cataloging of all the bibliographic heritage of the Archdiocese of Barcelona and its public making through the Internet evenly and coordinated.
