The fifth edition of the Biennial of Contemporary Arts BoCA 2025which is celebrated between Lisbon and Madridhas one outstanding Catalan presence within its performing arts program. The companies The Veronal, Candela Captain and the duo Aurora Bauzà & Pere Jou present their creations in this international event of reference, which brings together artists from the field of dance, performance, music and visual arts.
Candela Captain presents ALONE the October 16 in space 8 Marvel. ALONE is a performance that combines body, technology and immersive installation to explore the relationship between visibility, eroticization and identity in the digital age. The proposal places the female body as a space of resistance against contemporary media overexposure.
The Veronaldirected by Marcos Morauwill present Totentanz them October 24 and 25 in the Academia das Ciências de Lisbon. The piece revisits the medieval tradition of the “danse macabre” and proposes a choreographic reflection on the fragility of life and the presence of death. The company, recognized internationally, thus reaffirms its projection on the European scene.
On the other hand, Aurora Bauzà & Pere Jou present AT BEGINNING #16161D them October 24 and 25 in the National Pantheon. A work that combines dance and music in a scenic composition where five performers dance and sing with portable lights, exploring the dissociation between the body that moves and the body that sings. His participation stands out for the ability to integrate movement, voice and light in a unique and poetic language.
The Catalan presence is completed with The Count of Torrefielwhich will offer a performance and a workshop by September 19 to 22 in the National Theater D. Maria II.
BoCA 2025
The Biennial BoCA (Biennial of Contemporary Arts) is a platform for artistic creation and dissemination that, since 2017, has promoted the hybridization between disciplines and the decentralization of culture. The fifth edition (2025) is celebrated between Lisbon and Madrid and includes more than fifty proposals by European and international artists.
With the motto unreal way, BoCA 2025 bets on projects that question established perceptions and promote a cross-border dialogue between artistic languages. The biennial is developed with the collaboration of more than thirty cultural and artistic institutions from Portugal and Spainconsolidating itself as a space for Iberian cooperation and creative experimentation.
