Produced by hiiit For years he has been a battle for a place in the Catalan stage scene. The company formed by Roger Turns and Laura Daza has released pieces like The words of others, Habitat (double penetration), My violence or Fantastic festive funeral. While giving some time as a company (like good music groups) and decided whether to persist or throw in the towel, a project was pushed: a very free version of All three sisters fromAnton Chekhov For eleven performers. After being selected by the call where the theater beats, with the opportunity to premiere in Maldà, the show went from eleven to four performers. In the Pirates room there was no entire crew. All three sisters De Chekhov are trapped in the routine of a life dissatisfactory in rural Russia. They are part of a privileged class in decay and dream of a better future than ever. They want to go to Moscow, sell the house, change work or life. But they don’t. Turns and Daza chose this story because they connected with a generational feeling, as they say “it is very parallel to this era we live, we always have a dream to fulfill. And when you fulfilled it, it also does not satisfy you and another comes out.” The generational frustration (of those between 30 and 40 years), coupled with the uncertainty of dedicating himself to the performing arts, connects with the stagnation of the sisters: “At this point of departure, no return, or encounter. Rather as a purgatory.” The same work calls into question the need to do or not Chekhov at the moment, but the adaptation of Roger Torns mainly retains the dramatic structure of the classic, despite changing almost all the words. The conflict also appears not only in frustration, but also in how it is “opposite to the terrible desire to live, to have a good time, to try to live in a world that all the time makes you think of existence”. The creation of the work also flirts with these desires, as they explain, wanted to “stop thinking about success. We do what we want to do and, above all, we want to have a good time.” That is why, without waiting for orders, they focused on the creative desire and surrounded themselves with a team of talented people to trust. Roger Turns to Dramaturgy and Direction, and Laura Daza on stage next to Laia Alberch, Maria Hernández and Georgina Latre. But also Albert Ventura (set), Shoemaker (Costume), Guillem Rodríguez (sound space) or Núria Orellana (Management assistant). The company has decided not to settle in the darkness of being trapped looking for impossible dreams. They have dropped and created an ambitious piece, absorbing the existentialism of Chekhov, but also all the comedy that lives in their characters.
