Seminar “Antoni Gaudí: Art in the temple and the garden as a temple”
Participants: Eloi Aran i David Agulló.
communications:
- “Antoni Gaudí, Joan Maragall and Fr. Ignasi Casanovas SJ”
- “Gaudio and the garden of Our Lady of Lourdes at the Sant Joan de Déu Health Park”
The first communication will highlight the architect’s relationship with the poet who gave his name to the Joan Maragall Foundation and who was also one of the founders of the headquarters that currently houses it, the Balmesiana Foundation, Father Ignasi Casanovas, a Jesuit. The relationship between the writing “Art in the temple” by Fr. Casanovas at the First Congress of Christian Art (1913) and the temple of the Sagrada Família will be sought.
Later, it will be about the author’s doctoral thesis on the modernist garden of the old Sant Boi de Llobregat asylum, where it is clear that this was a space of architectural experimentation where works such as Casa Milà, the crypt of Colonia Güell, the Sagrada Família and Park Güell are anticipated.
