For Sant Jordi’s Day, next Thursday 23 April, the Library of Catalonia is once again celebrating an Open Day between 10am and 7.30pm.

Guided tours for groups will be offered from 10am until 1.30pm. And in the afternoon, from 4 to 6:50 p.m. The visits will be in Catalan and will take place at intervals of about 15 minutes. There is also the possibility of doing them in English or Spanish, with the following schedule: Spanish, at 12:40 and 5:30 p.m.; English, at 5:50 p.m. Those who prefer, also have the option to follow the route signposted for free.

During the tour of the historic building, you will be able to see exhibitions that exemplify the rich and diverse holdings of the Biblioteca de Catalunya, a heritage that constitutes the testimony of the literary, artistic and cultural creation of Catalonia over the years.

In the Exhibition Hall, at the foot of the street, you can visit the exhibition “Rafael Figueró, the great printer of Catalonia of the Baroque”, which recovers the figure of who was the most prominent Catalan printer of the modern era. The curator of the exhibition, Xevi Camprubí, will be there from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m. and from 4 p.m. to 6 p.m.

And in Espai Zero, in the hall of the BC, there is the exhibition “Ricard Salvat, man of the theater”, curated by the Graphic Unit and the Sound and Audiovisual Unit of the Library of Catalonia.

  • “150 years since the death of Ildefons Cerdà”

  • “Discs by Xesco Boix, on the 80th anniversary of his birth”
  • “Sample of a selection of video games received at the BC since the incorporation of the video game in physical support in the deliveries of the Legal Deposit”
  • “Tribute to the Raval: exhibition of photos and books that talk about the neighborhood”
  • “Visual bindings made by the BC Binding Workshop”
  • “The BC collection of trading cards”
  • “Thetoday 50 years ago”

A display of historical photographic equipment can also be seen in the Sala de Llevant.

And in the Sala Marès, in addition to the permanent exhibition of the Frederic Marès Collection, visitors will be able to see an exhibition dedicated to Antoni Gaudí, in commemoration of the centenary of his death.

At the end of the tours, pianola auditions will be offered. There will also be a point of sale for the Library’s publications and promotional material and a “photocall”.
