Next Friday, March 27, 2026, at 8:30 p.m., a piano and guitar concert by Shizuka Shimoyana and Yasuaki Hiura will take place in the East Room of the Biblioteca de Catalunya. The concert is part of the Off Llobet 2026 Musical Art Heritage programme.

Pianist Shizuka Shimoyana was a student of Alicia de Larrocha and is a specialist in Spanish and Latin American music. Yasuaki Hiura is recognized as one of Japan’s most outstanding guitarists, with a repertoire spanning from the Renaissance to jazz and contemporary music.

The concert proposes a delicate dialogue between two cultural universes through piano and guitar. They will perform works by Enric Granados, Frederic Mompou, Manuel Blancafort and Joaquín Rodrigo, and by Japanese composers Yukihiro Yokoo, Ryuichi Sakamoto and Toru Takemitsu.

It is a musical journey that links the classical traditions of Japan and Spain and that reveals deep affinities such as lyricism, silence and the poetry of the landscape. An intimate encounter that becomes a sound bridge between East and West.
