Pepi Labrador
With more than fifteen years of experience, it has gone through programs such as The resistance (of Movistar+), Glass talent (Telecinco) and is currently part ofThe Comedy Club In Madrid. Now step on strongly by presenting their show Viviendo to Todo Gass At the Teatreneu, a statement of intention of the tireless energy it has.
When did you discover you had a gift to make laugh?
I always brought it inside. When I went to school as a child, I had a circle of friends around me. It was I organizing games and provoked laughter. In fact, at the institute I was called the “chicken”, because I always had the chicks laughing around.
Despite being clear since childhood, your professional start was 47 years old. How did you make this decision?
I had always had the dream of being comical, but neither the time nor the house economy allowed me to risk this way. A friend said, “Listen, there is a place where they do comedy, they organize a monologue contest, it is free and they do it on Saturday afternoon, you have no excuse.” I signed up and won it. The contest organizer told me that I was an artist and this word came to me a lot, but that same week my husband detected a serious illness. This made me think that life is four days and that if I had a dream, it was to fight it. I refused to look back and see that I had not tried.
“I speak of the Tinder, of the middle -aged women, of being a widow …”
What has changed in you from those early attempts?
I have earned quality of life. Now I dedicate myself exclusively to comedy. I have not been aware so far the rhythm of life I had. I was getting up soon to go to work, I took my home job and when I was done I had to take an ibuprofen and coffee to go to a bad bar to comedy because it was my passion. I also feel that I have gained a lot of security. At first he trembled, he could not even look in the eyes of the audience, now I love to do it.
How would you define your humor?
It is an everyday humor, real, based on my experiences. I don’t invent anything. I speak of the Tinder, of middle -aged women, of being a widow … always with respect, but with great irony. I explain everything from a very feminine look, go, my perspective.
Is it easy to be a woman in the world of humor?
It is much easier to be a man. There are still places where you don’t want women on stage. There are also places where they call me because they need to fill female quota. “If a man fails, he has had a bad day; if a woman fails, he is bad,” I feel them constantly. I hope the day comes to understand that comics can be just as good, normal and bad as comics.
Can humor make everything?
I think so, but with great respect, touch and skill. However, I have some red lines such as abuse, pederasty or cancer.
What has the comedy meant in your life?
It has been my salvation table. I do not conceive life without comedy. It is a way to channel emotions, to create, to breathe. I like to transform difficult situations into comedy. Whenever I can try to choose the worst path, because I know it is where I will laugh most. Comedy has done with me a way of life.
Viviendo to Todo Gass It is the name of your new show. Would you thus define your life moment?
Yes, totally. I live intensely. I am almost 64 years old, but I continue in the minds of a 35 -year -old girl. It is a problem, because my head is filled with projects that I know are very good, but I have to streamline them. I have learned that life can change at any time, so I live every gas, but every day. If I can act today, better than tomorrow. I always need to have a carrot in front, a project to excite myself.
“I want to work with Andreu Buenafuente”
And what projects are excited to you now?
I always think of great. I will not tire of saying that I want to work with Andreu Buenafuente. Asked, it would be very happy to fill the Coliseum Theater and the buses to advertise that function. I want to make some movie and I would also like to make my own Netflix show or any other digital platform. I don’t get tired of biting doors. I am tireless.
