Next Friday, May 9 at 8.30 pm, the concert of opening of the commemoration of the centenary of Josep Cercós (1925 – 1989) will take place in the Library Room of the Library of Catalonia (1925 – 1989).
Josep Cercós i Fransí was a composer, musical theorist and pianist. Its musical language has its own characteristics, where you can see respect for the tradition and a very personal conception of modernity. He always felt the need to seek a compositional technique of his own, both in harmony and in counterpoint, and this led him to investigate. The personal collection of Josep Cercós is preserved in the Library of Catalonia.
The concert is dedicated to the genre of the lieda central facet in the musical production of Josep Cercós. Throughout his career, he cultivated the song with a perseverance that allows to follow its aesthetic evolution, from the first works to the last creations. The program includes a selection of lieder With texts by Rainer Maria Rilke, Joan Salvat-Papasseit, William Shakespeare and Miquel Martí i Pol. With this musical tour, the concert offers a privileged vision of the sound universe of Cercós and its contribution to 20th century vocal music.
The performers are Lluís Soler (Rapsode), Marta Mathéu (soprano), Marta Infante (Mezzosoprano), Josep Cabré (baritone) and Miquel Villalba (piano).
This activity is included in the Barcelona Poetry Festival.
