
Night and Day of the Museums 2026 | Activity
At night, everyday spaces give way to the extraordinary. Beneath the stars, enchantment holds sway, and the moon serves as the sun. Surrounded by art, all imaginary worlds are possible. The Night of the Museums comes on strong for MACBA’s 30th anniversary. To be followed, two days later, by the Day of the Museums.
May is an intense month in the world of art, beginning with the Night of the Museums, and followed by the Day of the Museums. As we turn 30 at MACBA, we celebrate with a full slate of proposals. On Saturday May 16, we open the museum for free from 4 pm to 1 am. On the following Monday, May 18we have another open day, with free access from 11 am to 7:30 pm. This is an unusual way to visit the museum and rediscover it in a fresh light, with newfound intensity and renewed energy.
We await you with guided visits and all exhibitions open to the public. There will be special activities for all kinds of visitors, as we will let you know. You will also find publications by MACBA Books at discount prices. For those who have yet to see it, or others wishing to come back, visitors will be able to visit the exhibition Like a Dance of Starlings: MACBA Collection. Immerse yourself in the poetics of resistance in the exhibition by Basel Abbas and Ruanne Abou-Rahme, Prisoners of Love: Until the Sun of Freedom. Or reflect upon utopian architecture in the proposal of Anna Moreno, The Third Twist. Furthermore, you will be able to hear the voices and sounds of Plaça dels Àngels, recorded by Edwin van der Heide in Spiral of Timeand get a preview of the retrospective opening in November dedicated to the textile world of Aurelia Muñozon the hundredth anniversary of her birth.
