New edition of the Catalan Window at the Eñe Festival in Madrid – News Details


Catalan literature will have its own chamber for one more year as part of the Eñe Festival 2025the great event of contemporary literary and artistic creation in Spain, with the Window to Catalan literaturea program of its own that will take place on the days November 14 and 15 at the Círculo de Bellas Artes de Madrid.

Curated by the writer and journalist Antonio Iturbethe Catalan Window will bring together six Catalan creators in three acts which reflect on the relationship between literature, nature and the rural world. They will participate in the sessions Xavier Pla, Eva Baltasar, Jordi Puntí, Vanessa Freixa i Blanca Llum Vidalamong other guests, in dialogue with authors from other territories such as Julio Llamazares.

The aim of Catalan participation is to make literary creation in the Catalan language visible, to promote cultural and linguistic dialogue and to bring new voices to the Spanish and international public. The proposal contributes to strengthening the presence of Catalan in a context of plurality and coexistence of languages, and is part of the festival’s commitment to give space to Catalan, Galician and Basque literatures.

The Catalan window it is made up of three conversations with the participation of Catalan authors:

  • Friday November 14, 8:15 p.m: Can you escape the mundane noise? Eva Baltasar i Jordi Puntí will reflect on the return to the rural world and its contemporary myths, with the Colombian writer Pilar Quintana
  • Friday 14 November, 9.15 pm: Connoisseurs of the art of strolling – With Xavier Pla i Julio Llamazaresa literary journey through the pleasure of walking and contemplating the landscape.
  • Saturday 15 November, 6.45 pm. Can you remove doors in the field? with Vanessa Freixa i Blanca Llum Vidala conversation between rural activism and poetry rooted in the territory.

Commitment to cultural diversity

With this initiative, the Eñe Festival and the Ramon Llull Institute reinforce their commitment to linguistic diversity, bibliodiversity and equal access to readingpromoting meeting spaces between creators and diverse audiences.
Llull’s presence will also include his visual identity in the communication and dissemination materials of the festivalas well as in theirs digital platforms and printed materials.

About the Eñe Festival

The Eñe Festival will celebrate its seventeenth edition of the11 to 30 November in Madrid and Malaga, under the artistic direction of Jesús Ruiz Mantilla and with the motto “Pleasure”. Created in 2009 by the Contemporary Foundation i The Factorythe Eñe Festival is Spain’s main literary gathering. In its 2024 edition, it gathered more than 180 authors from 19 countries i more than 20,000 attendeesturning Madrid and Malaga into capitals of literary dialogue between Europe and Latin America.
