‘Nabucco’, a legend opera, at the palace

The Palau de la Música Catalana will host on March 3 and 4 two functions of Nabucco,,,,,, Giuseppe Verdiwithin the framework of the opera tour in Catalonia, and after a season start marked by the success of La Bohème and The Cententola.

Nabucco It is one of Verdi’s first operas and a key work in his career. Inspired by the biblical history of the Nebuchadneous King and the captivity of the Jewish people in Babylon, the opera deals with issues such as oppression, the struggle for freedom and the power of faith. This new production is a review of the version presented in 2013 within the same operatic cycle, with stage direction of Carles Ortiz and musical direction of Sergi Roca Bru. The set recreates ancient Mesopotamia from a shocking staging, where the game of colors and geometric shapes emphasizes the drama of the story.

The cast includes prominent figures from the current operatic landscape. The baritons Luis Cansino and Manuel Mas They will give life to the character of Nabucco, while the role of Abigaille will be interpreted by sopranos Maribel Ortega and Eugenia Montenegro.
