
Metropolitan Dance 2025: The festival that fills the metropolis of movement
Dance again seizes the Barcelona Metropolitan Area with the eighth edition of Metropolitan Dancewhich will take place from March 13 to 30 in twelve municipalities: Badalona, Barcelona, Cornellà, El Prat, Esplugues, Granollers, L’Hospitalet, Sant Cugat, Sabadell, Santa Coloma, Terrassa and Viladecans. With a diverse program that includes more than a hundred proposals, the festival is consolidated as one of the essential appointments for movement lovers.
A festival with metropolitan soul
The inaugural show will take place on March 14 in Cornellà and will be a large -format piece of the company Sylphes aerial balleta large air ballet with music of Vivaldipreceded by an animation by the choreographer Pere Faura and performances by local dance schools.
To close the festival, the Parc de la Ciutadella in Barcelona will become a stage of celebration with a great dance and music party, culminating in the Block Party of Brodas bros and Nation Funk All Starswhich will merge public and artists in a collective choreography.
International figures and local talent
Metropolitan Dance 2025 will have the participation of prominent figures of national and international dance. Among the most anticipated proposals are there Skate park of Mette Ingvartsenthat fuses dance and skateboarding; Before We Say Goodbye of B.Dancewhich explores memory and emotion, and The Köln Concert of Trajal Harrellthat converts the famous concert of Keith Jarrett in a unique choreographic experience. They also stand out Into The Hairyfrom the company Thirst or ∞ [Infinit],,,,,, Humaneamong others.
The national scene will also shine with The consecration of spring d‘Israel Galvánthat fuses flamenco and contemporary; Txalaparta of Kukai dantza and Jesús Rubio Gamowith dance and Basque percussion; and Sunny of Candela Capitána reflection on the overexposure of the female body to the digital age. Other shows include Mariana of Luz Arcas/La Pharmaco, Parakee of Mucha Muchacha and SUPA Rich Kids fromOulouywhich explores African diversity through urban dance.
Dance comes to every corner
In addition to the functions in theaters and cultural centers, Metropolitan Dance is committed to bringing dance to the maximum number of people with free shows on streets, squares and non -conventional spaces. Among the most unique interventions stands out Naked attimora performance directed by Paloma Muñoz which will take place on March 15 at the Metro University station to commemorate the centenary of the Barcelona suburban.
The festival also incorporates two traveling proposals: Street 024 of Sun sun and Silver from Collective Big Boucersas well as other free shows like Zitzania of Lali Ayguadé and Ramon Graell, Am and what? fromElvi Balboa and The Zurda Baile of Lacerda.
A creation support platform
Metropolitan Dance will promote co -productions such as Monument fromAngel Durána reflection on collective identity; Unless fromAdrián Vega and Adriano Galantean immersive sound experience; Altars profane of Mary Magdalena Garzóninspired by the work of Toni Catany; Glory of The oneon the yearning for recognition, and Folk Aser of Sheds up with Pere Sedawhich revisits queer identities through traditional dance.
This year, the festival will also present Vibrationsan initiative that highlights the relationship between body and sound through movement. Coordinated by Giulia Poltronerithis project will bring together more than 350 students from eight municipalities to explore how music can influence dramaturgy and body expression.
