Mario Gas returns to the roots

The title of the show refers to a Romanza of The Tabernera del Puertothat his father, Manuel Gassang during his performances. The moon is white, very white It evokes those moments of the childhood of Mario Gas, immersed in the world of Zarzuela as his father played his most prominent roles. “I raised myself with Zarzuela, and everything that means this genre is intrinsically linked to my life,” says Gas, who acknowledges that his father’s music has deeply marked him.
Mario Gas’s family life has been inseparable from the world of theater. His father, Manuel Gaswas one of the most prominent singers of the Zarzuela, and his mother, Anna Cabréshe was a dancer linked to the show. The artist grew between tours and stages. His connection to Zarzuela, in which his father played a pre -eminent role, has been a constant that has accompanied him throughout his career: “I like to return to Zarzuela. It’s my world, my father’s music. This show is a tribute to everything that has accompanied me.”
In this proposal, Mario Gas presents himself as an actor and director, accompanied by live music by violin and piano, in a staging that reviews the songs and texts that have been present in his life. His work as director of more than fifty plays also includes prominent operatic productions such as The Traviata, Madama butterfly and A dance in maschera.
He was artistic director of the Spanish Theater of Madrid and received acknowledgments as a National Theater Prize of Catalonia in 1996. His career is not only limited to direction and interpretation, but he has also been film actor, with more than thirty films in his having, working with directors such as directors.
