Lyric concert ‘Cantem Guimerà’ / Activities / visit us / Start

Next Tuesday, February 18, at 8.30 pm, in the Llevant Room of the Library of Catalonia, the tenor Jordi Cortada and the pianist Josep Buforn will offer the lyrical concert “Cantem Guimerà”, with a stage direction by Jordi Lara.

The show is a musical journey through the work and time of Àngel Guimerà, one of the most music Catalan poets. Before being recognized as a playwright, Guimerà was admired as a poet and many of his poems were musicized by composers of the moment.

The repertoire of cuplets, sardanas and verses by the author, together with the dramaturgy of Jordi Lara, transport us to Catalonia in the late nineteenth and early twentieth centuries that saw the hatching of Guimerà’s genius.
