This proposal aims to respond to an increasingly visible challenge: the translations of Catalan are often published in peninsular Spanish, which can generate a certain distance between the work and the Latin American readers. The Seminar wants to move towards translations that dialogue with the linguistic diversity of Latin America.

  • From Catalan to variants of Spanish in Latin America.
  • From Catalan to peninsular Spanish with an interest in adapting their practice to other variants.
  • Other languages ​​in Latin American Spanish who want to join the Catalan field.

Content

  • Introduction to the Catalan language as a language of work.
  • Resources and tools for literary translation.
  • Current panorama of Catalan literature.
  • Approach to the dynamics of the Mexican publishing sector and reception of Catalan literature in Mexico.
  • Attendance to literary events of the program of the thread.

Participation conditions:

  • The Institut Ramon Llull will cover the Accommodation and Travel Expenses in Guadalajara. Priority will be given to translators resident in Mexico and, secondly, those who can travel to the country by their own means.

Applications can be submitted until September 26. The seminar will take place from December 1 to 4 within the framework of the Guadalajara thread (Mexico).
